During my time at the RCA studying for an MA on the Ceramics and Glass course, I was inspired and motivated to investigate the use of coloured porcelain in the process called Nerikomi.

I explored as much literature, online information and videos as I could, viewing renowned artists such as Curtis Benzle and Dorothy Feibleman whose stunning artwork and instructive videos inspired me further.

I began by using patterns and creating plaques and loved the way the clay had the last word. Once it was rolled, the porcelain would distort and create its own patterns which I found mesmerising.

My plaques reflect my intimacy with the porcelain and portray both my and the clay’s process. My aim is to convey beauty and the porcelain’s DNA.
